microdermabrasion for acne scars

Okay so we have all read the blurb form the maker of microdermabrasion kits, creams and machines.  But the question remains for us mere mortals:

“Does Microdermabrasion For Acne Scars Work At All…Really?”

I read everyday how it is supposed to strip away dead cells and other crap, yak, yak, yak.  Acne scar microdermabrasion is one the most over discussed and hyped themes I have seen around the net and I am a lover of microdermabrasion.  It even bores me sometimes though.

The reality for us is simple. A lot of us have acne scar of some sort of size.  Hell I have at least half a dozen or so dotted around me.  Now I know that in reality they aren’t that big, deep or noticeable to the naked eye.  But, I don’t care and probably neither do lots of other women (And men).  The point is reality where skin and acne scars, blackheads and pimples are concerned has no place.  Yes once I have ladled on my foundation you probably wouldn’t notice them, but I would, because I know they are there and THAT is the point.  That aspect bothers me and it is my opinion that is final and important as far as I am concerned.

So Does Microdermabrasion Work For Acne Scars

Right, we want to know if it is worth splashing out here. Will microdermabrasion remove acne scars?  The theory is that microdermabrasion treatments will strip away all that dead skin and the top layer of old skin from the surface.  So an extreme exfoliation if you like.  This is said to increase collagen production so that healing effectively occurs and new perfect skin is built.  It is a bit like when you exercise.  You actually tear you muscles at a microscopic level and then rebuild better and stronger.

So what you are theoretically looking to do is take you face off and replace it.  I know that sounds a bit crude but it does the job for me as far as I am concerned.  But the reality is that yes it does work, but with reservations.  Like all beauty treatments you can’t expects the miracles that advertisers will claim, certainly not the instant gratification of those that we all are convinced we need.

What Sort Of Microdermabrasion Results For Acne Scars can You Expect?

Ah, the million dollar question.  I could say that in no time at all you with microdermabrasion acne scars will disappear in an instant and you will be free for ever.  Fortunately, I have a bit more self respect than that these days.

If you acne or pimple scars are raised above the skin you are going to get better microdermabrasion results that if they are slightly sunken.  That is just physics.  It is easier for the acne scar microdermabrasion treatment to get to them if they are not trying to hide as it were.

Secondly, you do need to keep up regular treatments and there’s the catch, especially if you are talking about professional microdermabrasion treatments done in Spas.  The more treatments you have and the more regularly they are done, the more effective microdermabrasion acne scar results are.  How much are all of those treatments going to cost at about once a month minimum?  Probably more than you or I can afford, even if we are silly enough to take them out with our sinful plastic friends from the bank.

Of course now you can look at home microdermabrasion for acne and pimple scars.  This can reduce the price you pay by some distance.  But you have to accept, that in a lot of cases, initially these treatments and systems won’t be quite as good as the professional ones.  There will always be some risk as well.  After all you and I are not professionally trained to do this and we trust to the makers.

My Final Say On Acne Scars Microdermabrasion

The Questions You Asked Me:

Does Microdermabrasion Help Acne Scars?

Overall, you have to say that microdermabrasion for acne scars works, to a certain extent.  Like any part of the beauty trade these days take the claims with a dose of cynicism.

But yes if done regularly over time microdermabrasion and home microdermabrasion will remove, help, be good for and generally be effective for acne scar removal.  Whether that ends up being permanent will depend and differ greatly from person to person.
