Crystalift At Home Microdermabrasion System Review
The Crystalift Microdermabrasion Machine is a home microdermabrasion machine, using mineral crystals instead of a diamond wand. It is what I would harshly call a ‘sand blaster’. Don’t let my basic description put you off reading further though. Always a good idea to read to the end as I might say some nice things! This particular machine uses natural mineral microdermabrasion crystals (Description from Crystalift official blurb).
A lot has been said about possible toxicity of the crystals, including by me, but in reality there is no concrete evidence of harm. Full instructions claim that this method and microdermabrasion machine is safe to use on your face, chest and neck areas. It does specifically state that it should not be used on the lips and eyes. Very sensible advice and as always, if worried, take professional advice and read the instructions fully. The machine itself uses a vacuum method to gently tighten and pull the skin. This positions it at the optimum level to be most effective. Then the crystals are shot into the machine under pressure and effectively ‘blasted’ against your face. This abrasion, or friction, cased by them hitting the skin at speed strips away an extremely thin layer of skin cells from the skin’s surface. All reports confirm that this is a painless process from start to The Crystalift microdermabrasion machine comes as a complete package. Fair play, you will get a one month supply of crystals, together with a DVD, showing you how to use correctly. The microdermabrasion crystals come in a pod, ready packaged for use. Each pod for treatment is supposed to be used on a weekly basis, so you get supplied with 4 pods initially. The DVD advises first trial on the arm, again a sensible safe start. This is a good chance to get a comfortable setting out of the 3 provided of low, medium and high. Not having used a crystal lift machine, I went along to a professional demonstration at an expo recently. It was fascinating stuff. The application is via a wand which you work in a systematic fashion over the area of skin you want treated. On average, I would say that you can probably do your face in about 4-5 minutes. I imagine it is quicker once you get used to it. What was noticeable is that when the area of skin has been treated, there is a thin residue of shining crystals. Not a problem, but maybe a plus to see where you have been already. I also think that when you become competent, that you will be faster and use less crystals as well. That way they last longer. Not having used it personally, I can not give a direct judgment on its feel. But I can say that the demonstrators face did look noticeably fresher, cleaner and very shiny. But take a look at some of the user comments below to make your own mind up. |

My Take: Overal a positive response from the Amazon.com users. I have deliberately left out a 5 star review from a website which looks as though he was only posting to promote his site. I don’t think his is unbiased or objective! I only noticed one issue, which was from the 2 star reviewer above. She experienced some issues with the crystals becoming lodged in the pods. Only time I have come accross this and think she should have returned them or complained as well. Looking at the Crystalift skin resurfacing system, it would appear to be an above average performer and well thought of genarally. It gets a decent 4 Stars in my book
